I have spent a lot of years owning and running a studio.
From the very first year, I've always incorporated Santa. It was my favorite thing. We had a huge party, we had Santa there. My Santa was even on Shark Tank (and got a deal!) and my work was displayed on National TV. At its peak, we sold out within weeks. Yeah, it was my favorite.
Then. Covid.
Then. A studio move. Into my now studio.
But, I couldn't do Santa because the the studio was leaking so badly for so long. That meant a couple of years off of my favorite thing. That meant my kids were growing up. That meant a lot of things.
I spent some "no santa" years doing portraits of ballet dancers for a dance school AND portraits of every character in the Nutcracker. I loved it. These amazing dancers and kids! Then, for a couple of years, I had Santa back AND a full studio of dancers and Nutcrackers and these all happened the same week.
Last year, our home was being renovated from a flood, so we weren't living in it. I spent WEEKS not leaving the computer that I brought to my mom's house so I could sit and edit and edit and edit.... husband in the hospital, me furiously working.
I haven't put holiday decorations up in my own home for years. Who had the time? It was BUSY SEASON.
This year, I still have a leaking studio, the husband is still in and out of the hospital. It's an election year and everyone is focused on red and blue.
So I decided no Santa.
The dance school decided to go with someone who worked for free.
I'm allowing myself the gift of sinking into the sessions I love. Taking my time. Families, kids, artists. One at a time. Some in the studio in Plano, some in my home studio in Celina.
I'm finally realizing the joy in loving every single session I do. The joy in creating fine art. The joy in oil painting these portraits.
I'm turning this ship a bit. I can't wait to share with you everything we're doing here! It's already begun. You know most of it. It's all good things. I'm absolutely so excited. We're not changing as much as we are FOCUSING and adding on. So get in here.
Coz this isn't busy season. It's BEGINNING season.
And we're beginning to focus in on ART over busy,
So come see me. Plano or Celina. Let's CREATE ART TOGETHER. Fine art portraits are getting leveled up and I'm loving it so much!
